Sanraku-an 3rd Anniversary Tea Ceremony at Shorai-an – August 23, 2026 (Part 2)

The guests have moved from the solemn atmosphere of the small koicha (thick tea) room to the airy spaciousness of the hiroma (large room) for the usucha (thin tea) service.

The hanging scroll in the alcove features the character for "Snow," written by the Taiwanese calligrapher Wang Qinghai.

For the thin tea preparation, using a tea box set arranged in the mizu-temae (water procedure) style; the sound of ice evokes a sense of coolness. The glass mizusashi (fresh water container) is a piece by Ikeda Glass.

The tea box is a Moët & Chandon tin featuring the art of Alphonse Mucha—a choice inspired by the Mucha exhibition held at the Chigasaki City Museum of Art.

For the sweet,prepared "Macaron Vanille" (Hugh Morgan, Tokyo) and "Shonan Gold Ariheito" (hard candy by Riki, Odawara).
