KOBORI ENSHU RYU is a Samurai Tea Ceremony originated by Kobori Enshu-ko (Masakazu).

ENSHU RYU has a few schools. KOBORI ENSHU RYU is one of them, which started when Enshu ko gave it to his brother Masayuki. It teaches the tradition of Enshu to this day.

Enshu Tea Ceremony is praised as “Beautiful SABI”. It was matured by ORIBE SAMURAI Tea who was a master of Enshu ko based on Jouo and Rikyuz’s Wabi Sabi style. 
It is a SAMURAI Tea Ceremony with elegant beauty, influenced by dynasty culture together with nobility and flamboyant samurai style. 

Not only did he establish his unique tea style, Enshu ko also showed his great facility in  architecture, landscape design, calligraphy, and others. Representative architecture are Kohoan Bosen in Kyoto Daitokuji,  Konchi-in Hasso-in in Kyoto Nanzenji, and so on. 
He was a man of literature who respected Fujiwara no Sadaie, and was deeply influenced by the aesthetic of dynasty culture. His profound knowledge of art can be recognized from many utensils of Enshu taste.
