Do I need to be dressed in Kimono?

No. Any kind of outfit is welcome. You’re going to SEIZA, sit in a kneeling position in Japanese style, and jeans and mini-skirt aren’t recommended. Please bring or wear white socks.

I’m not very good at SEIZA. Would it be OK?

Yes. You’ll gradually get used to sitting in that position longer.

Would it be OK to wear accessories?

We ask to take off accessories inside the tea room. It might damage the tea ceremony utensils.

What do I need for the lesson?

FUKUSA, a small silk cloth for wiping tea utensils, SENSU, a Japanese folding fan, KAISHI, papers folded and used for wiping your fingers and as a plate for tea sweets, and KASHI-KIRI, a small knife for cutting the tea sweets.

How long is the lesson?

About 20 min to an hour. Shorter for beginners, longer as it becomes more advanced.

What language is used in the classroom?

The basic language is Japanese. English and simple Chinese also able to use.
