Sanraku-an 3rd Anniversary Tea Ceremony at Shorai-an – August 23, 2026 (Part 1)

Three years have passed since Sanraku-an first opened its doors; how quickly time flies.
Today, hosting a tea ceremony to express gratitude to Master Soichi Sasaki and the individuals who assisted with the "Tea Ceremony Experience" event held in the summer of 2024.

The meal was prepared at Le Chemin, a café located in the adjacent Chigasaki City Museum of Art.
After the meal, a gentle path leads down from the museum to Takasago Ryokuchi Park. As walk across the park, the wooden gate of Shorai-an comes into view.

Guests first paused to rest in the yori-tsuki (preliminary waiting area) before moving to the outdoor waiting area. At the signal of a gong, they were escorted into the small tea room—a yojohan (four-and-a-half-mat) space.
The setting for the koicha (thick tea) service featured the naga-ita futatsu-oki arrangement—a style of tea preparation devised by the 15th Grand Master, Sotsu.

On the alcove, the hanging scroll is "A letter written by Kobori Enshu,with instruction of throwing away after reading, written by Kobori Sotsu," and the flower is "Enshu-mukuge" (a variety of rose of Sharon).
For the sweet,prepared "Agari Yokan" (Shokado, at Kita-Kamakura).
