Now that the season of Kanro (Cold Dew) has passed, one can feel the chill in the morning and evening dew. The sunlight filtering into the tea room also feels softer.
The scroll on the arcove reads "開門多落葉 (Kaimon Rakuyou-ooshi)." It evokes a scene of deepening autumn: opening the gate on an autumn morning to find fallen leaves piled upon the ground.
The flowers in the alcove are white gentian, silver grass, yellow maiden flower (ominaeshi), great burnet (waremoko), and toad lily (hototogisu).
For the sweet, prepared "Kuri-kinton - mashed chestnut paste"(Suya Honke, at Gifu).
