Lesson Blog Oct 7th, 2023

As October starts, the morning and evening begin to feel chill winds. The trees have begun to shed their leaves, and we can hear the sound of sweeping leaves in the morning.

Today's hanging scroll is "Kaimon Rakuyou-ooshi (開門多落葉)". This is a word follows after "Ame wo kiite kanko tsuku (聴雨寒更尽) ". Meaning of this Zen-go (禅語) is "when I open the gate in the morning, the garden was filled with fallen leaves. The sound of the rain that I heard last night was actually the sound of fallen leaves".

For the sweets, I prepared Kuri-kinton (栗きんとん). (Ena Suya, at Gifu)
