I heard the first cicada of the season. The rainy season is set to end in a few days, and the arrival of summer is eagerly awaited.

The scroll in alcove is "depicting a kingfisher and a waterfall"; it is a beautiful piece capturing the vibrant colors of the kingfisher as it flies across the cascading water.

The flowers in the alcove are red rose of Sharon and Japanese knotweed (mizuhiki).

For sweets, prepared "Kanro-take" (Kagizen Yoshifusa in Gion, Kyoto)
