Sasaki Shachu Hatsugama at“Roso-an”on January 12th, 2026
On Coming-of-Age Day, Kobori Enshu-ryu Sasaki Soichi Sensei's "Hatsugama -first kettle- celebrating new year" was held at "Roso-an" at Higashi-Kitazawa.
Rosoan is a tea room built by the 15th Grand Master of the Kobori Enshu-ryu, Sotsu. It was acquired by Soichi Sensei from its previous owner and rebuilt after approximately twenty years.
After the charcoal procedure, we dined at Ristorante Luce. We enjoyed delicious Italian cuisine.
The Koicha,thick tea, was demonstrated by Soichi Sensei. It was a daime plain tea-making procedure. I had the honor of demonstrating Usucha, thin tea.
There was even a surprise at the end, making it a truly heartwarming and wonderful tea gathering.
