The Succession Ceremony of the 17th Grand Master of the Kobori Enshu Ryu at Imperial Hotel, November 16th, 2025

On a clear, blue-sky day in November, the grand celebration marking the succession of the 17th Grand Master of the Kobori Enshu Ryu was held at the Fuji Room of the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo.

The proceedings alternated between Japanese and English, beginning with an address by Grand Master Soho, followed by words from distinguished guests.

The festivities were further graced by a shakuhachi performance by Mr. Keisuke Zenyoji, a Living National Treasure; a Noh performance by Mr. Yoshinari Shimizu of Kanze Ryu; and an ikebana arrangement by Mr.Kakueki Himuro (Sozen) of the Soushin Ryu.

The event concluded with a hand-clapping ceremony led by Mr. Soichi Sasaki, Vice President of the Shorai-kai. Guests departed, carrying the lingering echoes of the celebration in their hearts.
