Lesson Blog November 8th, 2025

November has arrived, and we've already entered the beginning of winter. The autumn foliage on the trees at Shōraian is gradually deepening in color.

This is the first tea ceremony lesson since the opening of the sunken hearth for the winter season. A leaf-tea jar was displayed in the alcove. I carved a new tea scoop to coincide with the opening of the sunken hearth. It features a mottled pattern on a black bamboo groove.

The flowers in the alcove are Chrysanthemum x marginatum (Miq.) Matsum. and colored Nandina domestica.

For sweets, prepared "Inoko Mochi" (Chanoha at Ginza ).
