It is the beginning of a hot summer day. Koi carp and medaka ricefish (Oryzias latipes) in the Shorai-an pond are resting in the shade of the stone bridge.

Today's practice is mizu-temae. In the Kobori Enshu Ryu, using cold water and ice in a mizusashi (vessel for fresh warter) and serve cold thin tea. It is a cool and refreshing way to enjoy hot summer days.

The flower for the alcove is mukuge, rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus).

For sweets, prepared Hamazuto (Confectionery Kameya Norikatsu at Kyoto).
