It is now the seventh month of the lunar calendar, and Tanabata bamboos can be seen around town. Tanabata, a traditional star festival, is said to be a combination of the legend that the stars Kengyu and Orihime meet once a year in the Milky Way and a ceremony called “Kikkouden” to wish for the improvement of one's performance.

I shaved a chashaku (tea scoop) out of white bamboo for the wind furnace season. The white color of the chashaku looks refreshing when scooping up green tea.

The scroll on the alcove is “Taki ni Kawasemi” (kingfisher in a waterfall).

For sweets, prepared Itomaki (Toshimaya at Kamakura).
