Tea Ceremony to Celebrate the 70th Birthday of Sasaki Soichi Sensei at Matsumoto Memorial Music Guest House on May 11, 2025

Students celebrated the 70th birthday of Sasaki Soichi Sensei, by holding a party at the Matsumoto Memorial Music Guest House. The reception was held at 11:00 am.

Guests purified their hands at Tsukubai in the green garden, and then proceeded to the first-floor ceremonial table to enjoy kaiseki cuisine. One of our students, “Ishidaya”, was in charge of the preparation of the kaiseki cuisine, and each dish was filled with thoughtfulness and deliciousness.

While enjoying the kaiseki cuisine, guests were able to enjoy the view of the garden and the sound of birds chirping in their ears.

During the intermission, guests take a stroll in the garden, and when the gong sounds, the latter seating begins in the tea room on the second floor.

The hanging scroll in the alcove was 寿山青不老 -Jusan aokushite oizu-, and the flower was Japanese Cobra Lily (Arisaema ringens). The ceremony was followed by Sumi temae (charcoal tea ceremony), thick tea, and thin tea. The solemn yet relaxing time passed in a flash.

Finally, there was the presentation of souvenirs. Seeing the smiles on the faces of our teacher and students, we felt relieved and the tea party ended successfully.同
